Hideyo Takakuwa performs on the Japanese bamboo flute (I don't know why it's not listed as a Shakuhachi), and Dai Ya-Du Cong is on a Chinese flute. Both are very pleasant to hear along with some excellent visuals to complement the sounds. The entire soundtrack is worth hearing.

Great film, I saw the original release on a Cantonese VCD about a year ago. I got it from a friend in Hong Kong when Laurie Sogawa told me that Kinya played on the film score. He plays a Honkyoku for the tea scene in the middle of the lake. As the film started, I asked myself, "Will I be able to recognize Kinya's playing with all the wonderful dizi flutes blowing?" But the second that first shakuhachi note hit, I knew right away that it was Kinya. His sound was soooo familiar. Unfortunately, they edited the music out shortly after the scene started. Still, a very enjoyable HK martial arts film. Thumbs Up!
