I am starting this topic so that in the future when the Zen threads go off track and people get the urge to just say whatever comes into their minds or quote poetry, they know where to go.
Zen folk in the future when you realize your sharings no longer have any relevance to the topic at hand, move over here and dump your Zen load.
And Gishin yes you have permission from the Administrators to hit people with the proverbial (or real) internet Zen stick.
I'm making it a "Sticky" topic so it will always be at the top and easy to find!

The Buddha advocated same-sex marriages in a little know sutta called The Hawaiihoneymooncheapthreepiecesutta... I have the book here somewhere...
Oh, and he says there that God fights like a girl.

OLD BUDDHA (by Ko UN )
Hey, were you talking about old Buddha?
Why, old Buddha's no Buddha.
Real Buddha's a fish just netted
leaping and jumping.

Nice.
There are thousands upon thousands of students
who have practised meditation and obtained its fruits.
Do not doubt its possibilities because of the simplicity of the method.
If you can not find the truth right where you are,
where else do you expect to find it?
(Dogen Zenji)
And something a little more contemporary:
Not believing in anything I just sit,
listening to my breathing
After thirty years
It still goes in and out.
(Albert Coelho)
The great haikuist Issa seemed fond of the flute:
Fifth Month rain--
in the town how long
this flute ban?
And Basho may have been also... or was/is it all a dream?:
I heard the unblown flute
in the deep tree-shades
of the temple of Suma.

H.

As a seasonal element, perhaps refrigerator would be more appropriate for a summer haiku.
