greetings from brighton, england

dear shakuhachi players,

i feel very pleased to join this forum.

since i was a child i have played the flute. i have been a buddhist for many years. i have always loved the sound of the shakuhachi so for a university music project i started to study it as i have just bought a simple but beautiful plastic one...

now i find that the shakuhachi sings with the sound of breathing meditation and is an instrument of the zen masters!

i hear the sound of enlightenment in the playing of Nakamura Akikazu and Veronique Piron

i look forward to sharing sound with you

thank you

shraddha

Welcome to the forum. Don't forget to sign up to the European Shakuhachi Society discussion group if you have not already done so at http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/Euroshak/.

A friend has recently moved to Brighton so I plan to visit at some stage. Will give you a call when I head over. Phil from Dublin.

Thank you Phil!
It would be great to meet you. You've already helped me a lot with my shakuhachi project. I am reading through some of your book list!

Re: greetings from brighton, england

Dear Shraddha.

I am returning to London from Japan in less than 2 weeks. I hope our paths will cross sometime in the near future. They will here at the forum for sure.

Yes, please also have a look at the European shakuhachi emai list, as Phil mentioned.

Also, we are right now in the midst of creating the European Shakuhachi Society's website. presently it is still only a site about the second European Shakuhachi Summer School, but keep an eye with it: www.shakuhachisociety.eu
Also, if you want to look at the site for our first European Summer School: www.shakuhachisummer-soas.com

Blow in peace,

Hi Shraddha.
It seems you have found a home here. If you get the chance you should meet up with Kiku. Unfortunately she'll be leaving me soon from Osaka but I know she has to spread her wings wink  Have fun on your bamboo journey.
BTW, your icon kind of scares me ^o^  The dolly just keeps staring at me:)

Well, I am going to be very sad to leave Osaka. It has been a great time here! I certainly enjoyed getting to know you and other shakuhachi maniacs! smile
Studying with Tukitani and Simura has been a amzing experience and an eye-opener as well!
