I am posting this for my shakuhachi friend Obama Akihito, who is a student of Ishikawa Toshimitsu. Obama will perform original music with a Biwa player. The event is designed to bring traditional Japanese artists who are creating new and original music to the states, with hopes of forming connections with American artists. Mr. Tanaka, the editor of the Hogaku journal, will also be giving a lecture. Anyone in the New York and Los Angeles area would surely enjoy this production. Obama has 2 of his own CDs out and plays both jinashi and jiari shakuhachi.
