Honkyoku.....simplified?

Hey everyone...

since there are soooooo many versions of sooooo many different pieces.....i've got an interesting question...

i've been listening to MANY different versions of Choshi/Hon Shirabe and i noticed that some are very "basic"....while others are very "ornate"

i seem to be drawn to the more simplified versions.....and i wonder if anybody has a list of "skeleton" versions of songs...

for example..... Stan's CD version of Choshi is very  (for lack of a better term) uncluttered.   It is by far my favorite version.   I like the purity of the tone......

are there any more examples like that?...

thanks

jacques

It's better to keep your mouth closed and let people "think" that you're stupid, than to open it, and remove all doubt.
