The character next to the 2nd hole in the RA explanation to the left of the piece where the asterisk is literally means strike, so strike this hole.
A web lesson atleast on this piece would clear up a lot of the questions you would have with only having Yokoyama sensei's notation. Furuya sensei put a lot of time into the calligraphy so you might not want to post the piece in its entirety on the web, many people have paid for this. Sorry for the rant, I was just a little surprised.
It's a great beginning rythmical piece with lot of technique in there.

I took down the images of the full piece. Any further interpretation would be helpful.

Hi,
It seems like you have most of it figured out already.
" I'd specifically like to know the meaning of the first three characters directly after the fingering chart, the Ee Meri and the character beneath it, and the characters beside hole 2. Literal translation would be best if there is one."
After the finger chart it says Meri Slightly, then it says it should be in the same pitch as I meri (otsu). I believe the striking sound is slightly different but probably more important is the RA sound and the change in tone color with the different fingering.
Sorry, I hope the explanation helps a bit.
