Hello everybody,
Been a while since I've been on here.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has a chart for ancient Hogaku notation. I have the finger chart from Monty's site, but it isn't very clear and some of the kanji I can't figure out because parts of them are missing. I thought it would be fun and interesting to write out some of my favorite pieces in this notation.
If there is no chart can anyone just type it in on here or send me a e-mail with it?
Here I'll try to type out a bit real quick, and if anyone can correct them please do. I suppose I can figure it out with a bit of effort.
大
メ メ メ 中 中
ロ ロ ロ ツ ツ ツ レ . . . etc.
神 上 ? ? 平 勝 下 . . .etc.
仙 無 ? 金 調 ? 無
So a good question would be how the timing is indicated with this notation style? Also how upper and lower octave are indicated as the kanji appear to be the same for both registers.
Some of the kanji I can't seem to get to pop up, so if you have them please type them out with the pronunciation so I can add them.
Thanks for any help.
Chris
* I'll keep working on it when I have time, I'm a bit busy today. If nobody has the info I'll post it after I figure it out.
Another question, sorry if there are too many things, but where can one find the notation for the following Dokyoku pieces:
Dai Otsugaeshi
Jyakunen
Kaze
Koku
Motogaeshi
Mushirabe
Sagariha (Oshu)
Sagari Nami
Tsuru no Sugomori
Ukigumo
Thanks

Good idea, but I'd suggest:

Thanks, for the info.
By the way I figured out all the notes for the old notation:
壱越、断金、平調、勝絶、下無、双調、鳧鐘、黄鐘、鸞鏡、盤渉、神仙、上無
That first one would be "RO" and goes from there. I'm still not sure about the octave and timing parts. I'll keep looking around.
