The below post has mention of a Watazumi movie made by Pete Seeger. Has anyone seen this?
Fri Dec 05 1997
Hi. I'm Hiroshi Tachibana from Tokyo.
"The Art of the Japanese Bamboo Flute" LEGACY CD306.
I have that CD too. Seems like a bootleg. Quite a bad recording condition.
The order of musics is also strange.
Shino-bue and Noh-kan player is maybe Takara Sanzaemon (Fukuhara Hyakunosuke)
and some of them was composed by him.
He is acknowledged "a living" important cultural assets in Japanese government.
I have a shakuhachi homepage. (2-byte Japanese characters only)
http://www-b.indchem.metro-u.ac.jp/shakuhachi.html
List of many traditional and traditional instrument music CDs and LPs that
I have
http://www-b.indchem.metro-u.ac.jp/disk … raphy.html
In that list, there is a old LP, "Sokuin Ran Tyo", Watazumido, Philips PH7503.
Much better than above CD.
Names of the musics are
Furin, Shinya, Murasaki Syoden, Sinkyorei, Honshirabe,
Shinseki, Hokkoku Renbo and Soushingetsu.
In the liner notes, Fumio Koizumi who was a famous scholar of the folk music,
wrote there are the three most impressed musicians.
Those are John Cage, Pete Siger and Watazumidoso.
When Pete Siger came to Japan Mr. Koizumi brought him to the
Watazumidoso's house.
And later, Pete made a movie including Wadatzumidoso too.

You can find footage of Watazumido in Sukiyaki and Chips. He is in there for about 5 minutes. Pretty interesting though.

Brian! Dude, you didn't see the Seeger Watazumi Jam? It was awesome!

I was there. I was the guy in the background with the beard to the left of Watazumido. We were hangin and bangin that night. Watazumi did about 20 keg stands that night. He was blitzed!
