I always thought most of us with teachers were taught to place the sheet music slightly above eye level to encourage good posture. Everyone there is reading their notation through their nostrils.
And I thought the standard was the nostril viewing technique:
okay, let me state, that "nostril viewing technique" is not a real shakuhachi term. I'm sorry if it offends anyone.
(Of course, "hot chick with the dominatrix boots" isn't a real shakuhachi term either.)

Kiku was only faking that posture trying to make her students look bad.

One never knows what kind of turn the interpretations can take when posting pictures among the shakuhachi boys!

It is funny because Okuda has a very relaxed posture when playing. A little like the tai chi or chi gong posture with rounded shoulder so the chest is at ease and a straight spine. Since I only looked at Okuda playing shakuhachi the first many years of my shakuhashi days - I got that kind of posture too. So, yes in a way you could say Chris is right - I am faking it - or I think the picture is taken in a moment where I am signaling a beginning of a phrase to the students. There I was lucky!!!

BTW, who's the hot chick on the far right with the second best posture and the dominatrix boots?
Ha ha! I will introduce you to the 'hot chick with the dominatrix boots' if I think you guys deserve it! She IS hot!
PS. I love the term 'nostril viewing technique'. It is a standard term from now on in my vocabulary! Thanks!

Hello! Kiku, Thank you for the offer of introduction to your friend. We boys will all practice shakuhachi with more focus and perserverance hoping someday for that blind date. BTW, may I ask where she had purchased such a colorful music stand? That is so hot!!!!!!!!!!!

It is actually not her music stand. It is owned by one of the guys who did sankyoku with Michael Soumei. The honkyoku group moved into the room the sankyoku guys were in when we did performances for each other. So we just borrowed the stands there were already in use there.
Next time we do a workshop in London (we are planning to do one every 6 month) I will keep a sharp eye with that stand and ask the owner where he bought it.
So guys - come to the London shakuhachi workshop! It is hot! Both the technology to assist our playing... and the girls learning!

Administrative note: I consider this kind of talk sexual harassment and hostile workplace environment. Please refrain in the future.

Refrain from German words. There are members of the forum who have zero tolerance for anything from the Fatherland. You are Danish you should understand this. These are the people who do not think "Hogan's Heroes" is funny.
