Andrew MacGregor's final performance?

Hi BBQ'ers,

A few months ago Andrew sent me an email saying that he was quitting teaching and performing. And that he was going to take down his website. www.shakuhachiflutes.com Also requested to have his profile deleted from the BBQ, after a minor spat he had with Ed and a few others.

Anyway he's still saying this upcoming show is his final performance:

So if you want to hear him go to the show. And if you want anything off his website, grab it while you can. There's a lot of good stuff there.

With Riley out of commission and Andrew quitting, Oz shakuhachi scene is getting sparse.

Regards,

BR

This is also unfortunate to hear. Another Shakuhachi-ist I would have really liked to hear live.

Hope the concert goes well!

You, Bronwyn and Anne have to keep the shakuhachi wheels rolling....♡

Re: Andrew MacGregor's final performance?

I'm sorry to hear that it's his last show as he's quite an inspirational player.  I enjoyed listening to several of his performances here in Shikoku and also on his home turf in Melbourne.  One of my best performing experiences ever was getting to play a duet of Shika No Tone with him at one of his shows here in Kochi about a decade ago; we also had a fun practice for that up in the tangerine groves outside Uwajima, in adjoining Ehime prefecture, where he was touring with a koto teacher.  Sorry I wasn't able to make it to the final show!  But maybe he'll decide to start playing again a few years later.
