Kamon by K. Yoshizaki

Hi all,

Is anyone familiar with the piece Kamon by K. Yoshizaki? I have the score, it's
a piece, probably in the Tozan repertoire, for shakuhachi and Koto. I've never
heard it so I was wondering if anyone knew of a recording (I've googled a bit
but came up with nothing). It's rather modern (probably late 20th century). If
anyone knows about the composer I would also like to hear some information
about him.

Thanks in advance,
Michael A. Firman

Re: Kamon by K. Yoshizaki

Michael, I have a nicely played version on the CD "Japan Dreaming" by the group Itotake. The liner notes say Kamon is part 3 of Yoshizaki's "Festival Series" written in the mid 1980s. Parts 1 & 2 called "Matsurika" are also on the CD.

Mastery does not lay in the mastery of technique, but in penetrating the heart of the music. However, he who has not mastered the technique will not penetrate the heart of the music.

Thanks. This is rather humorous since I have the two other pieces Matsurika and Matsurika II which I didn't know were
related at all. I'll look for the CD.

Again thanks,
