Here is another flute made in the style of a wooden shakuhachi but with the same tuning as the Arabic Ney flute.
It is made of a really nice piece of figured satinwood the figuring is some of the best I have seen anywhere, looks like a tiger's eye stone -- just glows. Sound is wonderful, breathy, mysterious. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in Middle eastern or North African sounding music. Pictures at;

Aha, so that's where the name comes from. I have some beautiful carved ebony hand drums from the island of Kiriwina in the Trobriand Is. of Papua New Guinea which you would probably like, which I brought back from a filming trip there. Unfortunately the heads are lizard skin, so they probably contravene the Washington Convention...
