I've found out that mejiro-japan sell 'cheaper' wooden shakuhachi. only about 285$. They've probably not been through bore enhancement, so i would like know if bore enhancement and what ever responsiveness low qualities it might have, will it effect it's ability to play in the second and third octave ?
I know it's a ready-made shakuhachi, but should i buy it or should i find a maker who can make a better one for a bit more money ?
Could somebody who knows something about this please give me some info?

Johann, I would suggest to look up the Yahooh auction, shakuhachi, supposing you're in Japan. Recently, I 've acquired a 1.8 shaku bamboo piece, used one, at just JPY5,400(USD53) including delivery cost^^. It's an old one, slim with small finger holes, but it's OK. Well and accurately tuned.
