Hi all,
I had mistakenly posted this post in the events forum and so I will re-post in the flute making forum. Thanks.
Does anyone know of a good source to purchase root-end Madake bamboo in Canada?
I've tried contacting nurseries in British Columbia such as Bamboo World, Bamboo Botanicals ect. Since I live at the other side of the country in Ontario, shipping live plants is a problem and there is a lack of availability in root-end Madake poles:)
I'd be willing to order from outside of Canada but I'm not sure if customs would let it through. Does anyone have experience obtaining photosanitary certificates from exporters? If so, where from?
Thanks for your help forum,
Jon

Hi Jon,
I'm not aware of Canadian sources.
There are a few bamboo sources outside of Canada here:

You can also order Japanese rootend madake bamboo from Mejiro in Japan.
Good luck!

Hi Ken,
Many thanks for the sources that you listed above. The one Canadian location I was looking into didn't have large enough diameter bamboo so I will most likely have to find some from out of country.
Thanks again for your help.
