Dear ESS members and potential future members.
The UK Charities Commission has provisionally approved the ESS application for registration, subject to minor changes to the articles of association. The Board of Trustees of the ESS has reviewed and approved the changes, and it is now necessary for the changes to be
presented to an extraordinary general meeting for approval by the members.
For all members of ESS and potential future members, please come to the EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING.
DATE: 9th January 2008
PLACE:
SOAS, University of London.
Thornhaugh Street (off Russell Square)
London WC1H 0XG, England
ROOM: Khalili Lecture Theatre (KLT) in the SOAS main building. It is located on basement floor.
For visitors: Please get a sticker to go through the security at the reception desk (you can write the responsible student is: Kiku Day 117581). Once through security, go to the left through the glass doors, down the stairs. At the basement floor, turn left and then again right at the lifts. The entrance to KLT will be on the left hand side.

6pm: The extraordinary general meeting will take place at 6pm. Please try to be here at this time as we need to have 1/3 of the ESS members present to make a valid vote for the changes in our constitution. We will have snacks and beverages ready.
Also, this will be a good opportunity to meet other shakuhachi interested - which will also include some university students. We plan to go to a pub nearby after the meeting.
Nearest tube:
Russell Square on Piccadilly Line. Also walkable from Goodge Street and Warren Street stations (Victoria and Northern Lines).
For those, who haven't heard about ESS, I will very short describe the aims here:
The aims of ESS is to spread the knowledge about the shakuhachi in Europe.
We hope to ensure that as many schools and branches of shakuhachi will be represented in Europe, especially through the different main invitees from Japan at the Summer Schools.
We are trying to create a platform where all the different branches of shakuhachi playing already present in Europe can work together for our purpose of spreading the knowledge and enjoyment of the shakuhachi, and a platform where many players can be active. The people in the committee is supposed to change over time.
We hope to be able to support our main event, Shakuhachi Summer School and many other shakuhachi related events in different parts of Europe, organised by different teachers and players.
See you all!

Stephanie Hiller ESS Publications Officer
