I have been teaching Kinko school shakuhachi for about 5 years now, focus is on traditional sankyoku and honkyoku, with some ventures into modern pieces as well. I love passing this tradition on to others as much as practicing and performing. I have been playing since 1994.

I often have recitals in the Princeton area, so there is plenty of opportunity for students to get performance experience . I collaborate with Ishigure Masayo Sensei (www.letsplaykoto.com) in New York, so there is also the possibility of practicing sankyoku or modern shakuhachi/koto duet  pieces with her after studying them.

My teachers have included Tomie Hahn, Steven Rowland, David Wheeler, Kurahashi Yoshio ((at Shakuhachi Camp of the Rockies as well as special classes when he visits NY)  and I am currently working toward obtaining a shihan license with Chikuyusha Iemoto Kawase Junsuke III.

I generally teach out of my house, but have a location available in Princeton proper, as well.
Any questions, feel free to contact me.

I followed rivers, I followed orders,I followed prophets, I followed leaders
I followed rivers, I followed highways,I followed conscience,
I followed dreamers... And I'm back here,
and I'm back here... At the edge of the sky       (New Model Army)
