Tassajara Fire Blog
In case anyone is wondering how the monks in the Tassajara Zen Center in central California are doing. The fire near Big Sur is advancing near the Center. The monks are calm and prepared.

One of these days I'll be backpacking to the Center, and will play the shakuhachi (at a distance away from the zendo) there. I hope it will be the same Center and won't have to be rebuilt! However, that's the way of fire.

The latest is that the fire has gone through Tassajara and almost all buildings were untouched. Hooray for gel, foil, the Fire Department, and the monks! And a rooftop sprinkler system. I am gonna try to backpack there in the spring.
