I'm awaiting the arrival of my first shakuhachi and in preparation I am looking for a teacher in Madison, WI. Does anyone have any suggestions? Traveling regularly to Milwaukee is unfortunately not financially feasible right now. I may end up trying some video or CD lessons until I move to another city.

I do not know any teachers near you, though, if you are unable to find a teacher in person, I recommend trying webcam lessons. I have made great strides learning from Michael Chikuzen Gould via webcam and periodic live lessons when travel is feasible. www.chikuzenstudios.com
Welcome to the shakuhachi.
Best,
Michael

Whoops, Tairaku, I didn't realize that (although I suppose "From: Tasmania" should have given it away)! Komuso.com should update your info. Looks like learning from a book or webcam lessons it is...
