I would like to have more shakuhachi music to listen to. I perfer to buy downloads as I no longer house CD's in my home. All my music is on my computer from which I listen to it or transfer it to a portable mp3 player. Can you recommend some reliable sites which offer shakuhachi music for purchase?
thanks,
Erin

Hi Erin,
Cdbaby has a lot of music available for download. My CD as well as a few other players on the forum here have there CDs for sale there. They are a very reliable company.

[I'm assuming you don't already know about this; perhaps you do...]
I would also recommend iTunes; not a 'site' per se, but it's a software music player supported on both Mac and PC.
Download it here (the website will detect your platform and produce the appropriate version):
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
iTunes, when installed, will connect you to the iTunes store, and a search there for 'shakuhachi', or the names
of particular players, will yield many albums/tunes which you can sample and download for a reasonable fee.

I have purchased some shakuhachi music from itunes already but didn't know about CDbaby so I'll check that out next.

There are a ton of shakuhachi downloads on Amazon, and unlike iTunes, they are DRM-free.

Not to put too fine a point on it: many iTunes offerings these days are DRM-free. They are denoted: 'Tunes Plus.
For example, Takeo Izumi's 'Resonances of Infinity 'Shakuhachi Music', is such an item.
For the record: I do not own stock in Apple (or anything else, for that matter).

Josh, just wanted to mention that I purchased your album from CD Baby today and am really enjoying it!
Thanks for directing me to CD Baby.
I bought another shakuhachi album from itunes recently but for some reason they have drastically reduced the speed of their downloads. I'm not impressed with that.
If anyone else on the forum has an album for sale in mp3 format somewhere on the net, feel free to let me know. I am your potential customer as I cast about for good shakuhachi music to listen to and learn from.
cheers,
Erin

Hi Airin,
Thanks for the support and happy listening. I hope you enjoy the CD.
Happy hunting through all of the shakuhachi CDs out there. Amazon is also supposed to have a growing selection of downloadable music.
