What are people using for moisture protection on the bore of jinashi flutes? Nothing? Some sort of clear polyurethane sealant? I want to keep as much of a 'natural' tone as possible but still give some protection.
Also, what are good ways of applying it?

on my hocchiku; i use a cellulose seal spray; tape up the finger holes and spray down the mouthpiece and up the end. Just go slow with short bursts so there's no build up. Rory

I bought some water-based polyurethane sealant. A test on a scrap piece seemed to be fine. I'll probably go with that...

I use walnut oil. It does not go rancid, has very little odour and is what is commonly used on woodwind instruments. I dip a small cloth into the oil and push it through the bore, wipe it over the surface then wipe off the excess. I do this to new flutes and then every six months or so.
