I'm especially interested in the opinions of the "pros" on this one:
If you were to assemble a solid library of essential Shakuhachi recordings as serious reference for studying the art, what would be on your "must have" list of essential listening, in order of priority/importance?

Have a look through this thread:

[Found by putting 'best recordings' into the Forum SEARCH ENGINE.]
And while you're at it, have a look through this one:

It's three years plus of posts on recordings (being, of course, in the 'Recordings' section of the Index). Six pages of recordings goodness....

Yes, this was basically what I was shooting for. I missed that one. Thanks!

I like the search engine too! I use it a lot actually, aside from having read almost all of the archives here over the last few months.
I missed the above thread - and for some reason "best titles" was too-obvious for me to figure out on my own. I'd probably try "essential recordings" "shakuhachi canon" etc. before anything as simple as "best titles" would occur to me. ![]()

Yes, this was useful too: http://shakuhachiforum.com/index.php ![]()
Seriously though, the first link edosan posted was basically what I was after - a top-tier list of published archival recordings of basic core material by definitive players.

More than most folks, I'd venture, and what's not to like?
The Forum's been around for 3 years and some months; most questiions have been asked, and to some extent, at least, answered.
A peek into the archives ain't gonna hurt anyone, now, is it?
Hmmmm...?
