Introduction
Hi, Y'all from Southern California . No Instructors as far as the eye can see so I look to you good people to help this beginner get started and I look to your generosity and experience to keep me moving. Perry Yung sold me a beautiful Japanese bamboo 1.8 that I am so pleased with. If I dropped it it would break my foot, what a massive pleasure to work with.. It's wonderful and he has more. Not a groupie, just a fan.

Hey Lance, Welcome to the Forum!
Just so you all know. Lance originally purchased a refurbished Japanese wooden shakuhachi that was a great player and easy too! But, he wanted bamboo. The flute I sent was not as easy to play for a beginner, but was able to handle more from an experienced player. I told Lance to hang on to both flutes for a while just to get a feel for what's going on. He stepped up to the late nicely

Thanks for the posts, guys. There is a wealth of information, experience and enthusiasm here. All the ingredients for a good salad. Just a touch of opinion, a sprinkle of humor, a pinch of humility and some flaxseed oil (always put some flaxseed oil in). I am in appreciation. -- Lance
