Greetings all from Sunny Thailand.
My name is Jahan and I picked up my 1st Shakuhachi last week. I wasn't actually planning on getting one, but have always been impressed when one was heard and I was walking by a flute stall in the Himalayas last week and the flute seller had a wooden Shakuhachi in the back. I couldn't make a sound worth much, but had him play to hear the sound and 2000 ruppees ($40) later I have my first Shakuhachi.
Now I am back home in Thailand and trying to figure out what is going on. I played spanish and classical guitar for 10 years, but havent really touched it in a few, am proficient at the didj and enjoy watching the moon rise over the lake (wink wink)
I can make the basic sound on the Shakuhachi, but one that that really perplexes me as a child of the internet generation is that with over an hour of searching I still have not found an online learn to play the Shakuhachi instruction. Most links lead me to some paid book or some teachers sites. But sorry to the oldtimers, but this is the Information era!!!!
I have had a problem finding a coherent collection of online recordings as well. Maybe I am missing something, but if so maybe someone can help out
I collected the best links I could find here
http://www.youbundle.com/b/learning-the … mboo-flute
and want to find more, especially a basic from the beginning guide on exactly what to do and where to go. I am letting the instrument teach me, but sometimes it is good to have some pointers as well
Thanks
Jahan
