Wow! It's beautiful!
Note most of the calligraphy is text for singing (or chant - not so sure as my calligraphy reading is not that good). The shakuhachi score is only the first 4 lines. It is the fu-ho-u score and not ro-tsu-re.
Chikuho-ryu is the only main school that transmit shakuhachi music using this notation system.

I can understand the value of memorizing versus reading notation back then when I look at that score!
I found these two statements below to be really interesting. Can anyone read the Kanji after "I play (3) "Kanji"?

That is "kaze" which means either wind or in this case style.

my teacher also use this notation system. I often wonder about the roots of his stuff, he was a student in the Shoufukuji Zentemple.
