Practice Recordings

Here are a few ditties I've recorded from my practice.

Maybe they should be in the practice section.

I hope to have some better recordings posted soon.

Re: Practice Recordings

Same link should work.  I changed it up a little.  I've already gotten criticism on most of the songs.  Some are going to stay, some are going to go.  I'd be interested to hear opinions.  I have a chance to let a friend that owns a sushi joint listen to this.  She may let me play in her restaurant.  I haven't sent her the link yet.  I figure, out of what I have there, I have two decent recordings for a "resume."  Let me know which two you think they are of if they all suck.  This friend knows other folks that own sushi joints, so I want to make as good an impression as my ability allows.  I am pretty sure I will crash and burn at the first two live performances or so, but I figure I should just get that stuff over with.

I suggest doing as many informal performances for friends and family as you can before doing a sushi joint live performance. You want to get a feel for how much performance anxiety you'll have and how it will affect your playing. Crashing and burning is an option among friends, but at a sushi joint don't you think the patrons deserve better? Nice playing though, I think it will go along with sushi well.

Re: Practice Recordings

I agree with this, play in front of people as often as you can. And when you get nervous, just take some extra-deep breaths and try to relax.

After all, most people have never even heard of Shakuhachi, even if you make a complete balls up of it (which you hopefully won't!) people might not realise.

Unless you say "GODDAMN THAT SUCKED" in which case they'll know.

Re: Practice Recordings

Jeff, I really enjoyed listening to the pieces you posted.  Some are the same ones that I have been practicing and, I can tell you, if I played even half as good as you, I'd be pleased!
