We will be having the 3rd Florida Shakuhachi Camp in June here in Florida. The camp will be taught by Michael Chikuzen Gould as always. It will be held June 11-13, 2010. For complete details see The Florida Shakuhachi Camp website located at: http://www.floridashakuhachi.com . We have had the camp limited to only 7 participants in the past but we recently found 4 more very nice cabins nearby so we can accommodate up to 11 students now.
We are also working on setting up a concert for Michael Chikuzen Gould in Gainesville at the same time. The students will be able to attend at the concert at no additional charge. If you have any questions please let me know and I will help any way I can. The sooner we have the students who will be attending signed up the sooner we will be able to develop the curriculum.
Thanks again!
Brian

Just a heads up that there is still room left for participants in the FL shakuhachi camp. If you are interested please let me know!

I am in the process of putting the pieces together for the June Florida Shakuhachi Camp. I have two spots still available and I am trying to determine the final level of the pieces. If you are possibly planning to attend please get in contact with me so I can discuss your level and what you would like to cover. We aim to make sure everyone's level is catered to. We also try to include any pieces of particular interest also. I look forward to meeting everyone there. It is going to be a great camp!!

During the Florida Shakuhachi Camp Michael Chikuzen Gould will also be playing a concert one of the evenings. If you are in the area or coming to camp you won't want to miss it!!

I'm promoting and organizing this concert.
Seating will be limited.
If anyone would like to buy tickets in advance, either email me:
brianblock1@cox.net, or PM me.
I'll be setting up a PayPal in the coming days...

If there's any chance of videotaping the event, perhaps a DVD would be in order. (And this time, it's doubtful anyone would be left out since there's only one performer!) Any idea which pieces will be played?

I have no idea what Michael will play, but I will inquire.
As for videotaping and audiotaping, we welcome volunteers.

I always plan to take video but I do not have the best camera - I can be a back up plan/last resort. Either way your more than welcome to the pictures/video/audio I take.

Upon further thought, no recordings. It would be Michael's call anyhow, and he used to allow recordings, but no longer.

I notice that the website mentions 6 cabins
Out of curiosity, but is there still room for more participants? I am currently planning a graduation trip to Europe, but a change of plans is still possible, if you guys are willing to accommodate a complete beginner

No, but if you are, you'll be more comfortable on a hill.
I'm Dai Chibi.
Not sure what Brian is called, other than Brian.

Good to hear that, but I am afraid that the cost of a flight from Singapore to the US seems rather exorbitant at such short notice (and even shorter since I need time to plan the other things to do after the camp). It is far more prudent for me to spend the money on say, skype lessons first. There will always be another time, I suppose

Bit of a trip for you too Jam but man it would be fun!

Haha if I ever make it out to your neck of the woods I'll be sure to get in touch!

Hey I visited you there last time
Offline
Haha that's a sneaky card to play! In theory it was me that visited you in Kyoto, seeing as you were there first!

One and a half weeks left and we still have a spot left if you are thinking of coming! If you are interested please get with me soon so I can make sure your spot is reserved and we can discuss your expectations and the pieces you are interested in

Today is the day!! I will see you all there!!!!

Brian,
Once again, thank you for hosting this camp!
I think this time, I have come away with a different attitude and determination to prioritize my practice.
Thanks again for covering me and handling the totally last second request to introduce Michael. Sorry to dump that on you with absolutely no advance notice...
