Here is a link to picture of one of my flutes. Any body know who made it? Is it a "good" one? I like it.

Does the flute have a stamp or 'hanko'?

What is that around the top half?  It almost looks, from the photo, like electrical tape but I am guessing that's not likely what it is. 

Where did you get the flute from?  Was there any history to go with it?  Have you asked your teacher to evaluate it for you?

It's generally impossible to determine the value of any shakuhachi by just looking at it, even if it's up close (which that one is not).

Even the mark of a good maker is no guarantee of a good flute, although it's useful in the evaluation. It must be played, by someone who
knows what to do with a shakuhachi, in order to know its worth.


Zen is not easy.
It takes effort to attain nothingness.
And then what do you have?
Bupkes.
