I am pleased to announce my acceptance by Australia as a permanent resident. Thanks to Dr. Riley Lee for his letter of support. Special thanks to Midnight Oil for nominating me for a Distinguished Talent visa. I will make the move gradually over the next year. I will be residing in Hobart, Tasmania. If there are any people there interested in lessons or performances please let me know.
Regards,
Tairaku

I am now splitting my time between Sydney and Hobart.

I don't know if there are any Tasmanians on this list, but I'm in Hobart for the next two months steady if you want some lessons.

As far as I am presently aware, there are no 'qualified' teachers in New Zealand, however, I have been playing since late 2004 along with making bamboo shakuhachi's for myself and many others. I have recently begun a 'Shakuhachi Support' email group for those I have introduced to the Shakuhachi and have a small group who gather every two weeks to practice.
I am willing to offer support and what knowledge I have gleaned to any who request assistance.

Hey Kel,
Maybe if you get enough interested people together I can come over there for a workshop.
Ciao,

For sure BR, I already have that noted in my 'possibilities' folder, seeing that you travel a bit and that two and a half years ago when I started out into this series of departures, you were actually here but "right time, wrong place".
Right now I could gather ten or so in Auckland and five or six here in Aongatete. Most of us are very newbies, and in it for a variety of reasons, but if you are going to be passing by on some venture from A to B, get in touch ahead of time and I will surely be able to put something together.
I also have a close shakuhachi blowing friend who often goes to Tasmania to teach Dharma, so next time he is doing so, we will get in touch.
So you are a dinkum ossie now huh !
